ASIA was recently awarded EFSP Phase 27 American Recovery and Reinvestment Funds to provide emergency food assistance to those who are homeless or at high risk of becoming homeless. The funds will be disbursed between April through October 2009 and will support ASIA’s food pantry program, which provides monthly supplemental food, often items such as rice, tofu and vegetables that are culturally specific, to the newcomer community.

The Akron Community Foundation awards funding to ASIA’s Lucky Seniors

The Akron Community Foundation announced today that ASIA was one of the recipients of the Vernon L. Odom Fund to support diversity initiatives. The $1,000 grant will be used by members of the Lucky Seniors program to purchase supplies to knit hats, scarves, gloves, mittens for newly arriving immigrant/refugee youth in Summit County.
