Saluting the Dreamers honors Margaret Wong

On Saturday, September 25 Cleveland Public Library and Fifth Third Bank honored Margaret Wong with their first annual  Saluting the Dreamers award.  Wong is a nationally recognized immigration attorney who was selected for this tribute because of the impact she has made in the community.  Read more about this special honor.

ASIA welcomes Mona Wong, Finance and Program Assistant

September 27th, 2010

ASIA is pleased to welcome Mona Wong as Finance and Program Assistant.  Mona grew up in multi-cultural Malaysia and moved to Akron in 1989.  She has lived in different countries like Philippines, Indonesia and Taiwan due to spouse’s job assignments.  She graduated with a BA Economics-Accounting major from Monash University,  Australia and is a certified tax preparer.

She has always enjoyed giving back to the community, volunteering in Good News Club/Child Evangelism, Project Homeless ( Akron) and serving students at International Friday Night Dinners –The Chapel.  Mona loves interacting with all ethnic groups and discovering their cultures. She speaks Malay, Bahasa, Mandarin and Chinese dialects such as Cantonese, Fukien and Hakka.

Are you 18 and over?  Are you a US citizen?  Then register and vote and let your voice be heard.  Don’t forget these important dates:

October 4th: Voter registration ends at 9pm.

November 1st: Absentee ballot voting in-person at Board of Elections closes at 4:30pm

November 1st: All vote by mail/absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before this date and received at the Board of Elections by November 12th in order to be counted.

November 2nd: Election day.  Polls open at 6:30am and close at 7:30pm.

      Ohio's first-ever AAPI Legislative Day was held in the Main Atrium of the Statehouse in Columbus. More than 350 AAPIs from across Ohio came together to understand their collective power and learn about each other's communities and the importance of political engagement.
