Know your voting rights and learn more about Issue 2 and Issue 3

Do you know your voting rights?  Before you go to the polls November 8, please read these important rights that protect you and allow your voice to be heard.

  • YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPECIAL ASSISTANCE in the voting booth if English is not your first language, if you cannot read or right, or if you are blind or otherwise disabled.
  • YOU  HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE without being intimidated by any person
  • YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE during work hours without retaliation by your employer

Flu shot clinic at ASIA’s Akron office, Nov 14

Summit County Public Health will be offering a flu shot clinic at ASIA’s Akron office on
Monday, November 14 from 1-3pm.
730 Carroll Street in Akron

The cost for the vaccine is $25 for adults and $14 for children.  Insurance is accepted including:

Medicare/Medicaid, CareSource, United Community Health, Buckeye. Please bring insurance card with you.

This flu shot clinic is open to the public.

Asha Cleveland’s “Notes of Hope” concert Saturday Oct 29

The Cleveland chapter of Asha for Education would like to extend to you a warm invitation to their Annual Charity Concert, ‘Notes of Hope’, featuring flute maestro and Padma Vibhushan awardee 

Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia

on Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at Cuyahoga Community College’s Metro campus (Tri-C) auditorium (Cleveland, OH), at 7:30 pm.

One of the most renowned musicians of our times, Pt.Chaurasia has enthralled audiences across the world, including the United States, for over five decades. He will be accompanied by Pt. Subhankar Banerjee, a prolific percussionist on tabla, and Jay Gandhi on assisting flute.

Asha for Education is a 100% volunteer run organization with a mission to catalyze socioeconomic change in India through the education of the underprivileged. We research, select, fund and sustain various education-based projects for the less privileged in India. We have a zero-overhead policy on donations to ensure that funds are utilized directly by the projects we support. All contributions made to Asha for Education are tax exempt under the Internal Revenue Code Section (501)(c).

ASIA is pleased to share their fall newsletter, now available online.  This edition features a conversation with May Chen, former Executive Director and one of ASIA’s founders.  Ms. Chen shares her memories as ASIA celebrates 15 years empowering Asian American families and communities.  The program spotlight highlights ASIA’s computer training class and its success reaching adult learners of all ages.
