ASIA History and Our Future:

Four women, each a professional in her own field, met together to discuss the untapped potential existing in the emerging Asian population in Northeast Ohio. These friends laid the foundation for Asian Services in Action, Inc. ("ASIA") with great hopes and aspirations for the work this organization can accomplish to improve the quality of life of Asians in Northeast Ohio. They knew that hard work, challenges and barriers would lie ahead. They committed their time and resources to this undertaking. They started small. Their first effort was the planning and carrying out of a one-day health initiative service 60 members from an Asian community. This was back in 1995. Today, the four founders are still volunteering their time, effort and expertise to lead this agency out of its infancy stage to become a more independent and responsible body.

ASIA firmly believes that as the fastest growing minority group, we must be invested in being recognized and included in the events, opportunities and resources that impact our lives in the larger community in which we live. We strive to work and collaborate with mainstream groups to achieve this end. We are encouraged so far with our efforts, but there is a lot more that needs to be accomplished.

ASIA has come far over the last 9 years. It still has a long way to go. However, we are committed and determined to work hard and persevere to serve our own community as well as others that may benefit from our programs and expertise.
