For Interpreters and Translators

ASIA offers bi-lingual individuals exciting and challenging opportunities at different levels that are steeped into their unique cultures.

Our pool of professionally trained interpreters is recruited directly from immigrant and refugee communities in the area. They are screened for language proficiency.

Before being considered for the interpreter pool, candidates must demonstrate strong credentials such as: passing rigorous language assessment examinations, and/or completing certified interpreter training courses that teaches interpreting skills and protocol that emphasize:

  • Confidentiality and professionalism
  • Interpreter roles and boundaries
  • Ethics, values and cultural dilemmas
  • Memory development and sight translations
  • Interpreter code of ethics
  • Cultural barriers

All interpreters must:

  • Pass criminal background check
  • Have Negative TB Test, current MMR Vaccination, and Hepatitis B vaccination (for those conducting medical interpretation)
  • Valid driver’s license
