Lucky Seniors

The Lucky Seniors program is funded by the Summit County Area
Agency on Aging. The goal of the program is to improve the health
and mental health of area Chinese and Korean seniors through nutritional
and socialization activities. Up to 60 seniors from Cuyahoga, Stark
and Summit counties meet twice weekly for educational, nutritional
and social activities at a local Chinese restaurant. At each meeting
the seniors are served a culturally relevant meal, perform Asian
exercises, engage in line dancing, study English, attend musical
and artistic events, and provide volunteer services to the community
at special events.
These programs
are vital to the well being of many seniors, as evidenced from their
comments about the
program:
"This
program offered us, the seniors, opportunity to talk among our folks.
It is extremely helpful for us not only physically, but also mentally.
Thank you so much."
- Lucky Senior Age 82
"It's very
wonderful that I don't need to cook lunch twice a week. I can also
bring a dinner box home. I enjoy the program a lot." - Lucky
Senior Age 76
"I feel
thankful for having the chance to make new friends, to learn something
new. I enjoyed those unforgettable experiences." - Lucky Senior
Age 86
"It's
extremely beneficial for me physically and mentally to attend this
program. I wish that there will continue to be more variety of activities
to improve our knowledge and health."
