Successful Aging Initiative

ASIA was part of the formative Cleveland Foundation’s Successful Aging Initiative which focused on the assets that older adults bring to our community and the ways that they contribute those skills and talents to enrich and improve the quality of life for themselves and others around them.

On the heels of this important project and the recent national organization Encore’s recognition of former Executive Director May Chen (as a Purpose Prize Fellow), ASIA began discussions with the older Asian adult population in NE Ohio to develop a broad and long-term vision for a project for the community.  A survey was conducted and in late 2008, Dr. Marlenet Stoiber of MCS Consulting presented some opportunities and ideas for the group to further explore.  The group continue to meet and the gatherings are quarterly.
