Health Fairs & Screenings

heathfair1

ASIA sponsors health fairs during April of each year (Minority Health Month) that provide the local Asian American and other ethnic communities with education on heath issues and free medical screenings.  Over the last few years, the program has been strengthened by a partnership with the Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association (APAMSA) chapters at NEOUCOM and Case Western University School of Medicine.  The students association assist with the valuable screenings involved with the events.

In 2009, ASIA began to offer Asian and ethnic-specific organizations with support and guidance to secure Minority Health Month mini-grants from the Ohio Commission on Minority Health.   They include:

  1. Laotian Association of Cleveland, Inc.
  2. Case APAMSA
  3. Ohio Asian American Health Coalition
  4. Chinese Association of Greater Toledo

Recent events Included:

* Flu Shots
* Cholesterol and blood pressure screenings
* Osteoporosis Seminars
* Tai Chi Classes
* Tae Kwon Do Classes
* Western Stretching Classes
* General Wellness Seminars
* Cardiovascular Health Seminars
* Cancer Prevention Seminars
* Hepatitis Prevention Seminars
